Welcome to Lost Moon Holler!
Inspired by Echo-Lit’s beautiful mural of the same name, Jeanne Stevenson collaborated with illustrator Al Nocie to create Lost Moon Holler, the book. The fun and colorful book features our favorite characters from the public art and tells the back story of the forest scene.
Children of all ages will love the story of community set in a magical West Virginia holler.
FROM THE AUTHOR - I wrote Lost Moon Holler to share what Wild and Wonderful means to me. Wild is the remarkable diversity in our state and wonderful is our incredible community.

Very well written and an interesting story. My grandchildren enjoyed it very much. The illustrations are perfect for the story.
The illustrations are just gorgeous. I love the story too. Waiting for the baby possum spin off.
Lost Moon Holler is an amazing story that takes me back to the holler by my house where many of those plants and animals lived. You won't want to miss this book!
This book is so beautiful! The story is lovely and the illustrations are so evocative! I can't wait to read it with our kids when they open it on Christmas! Shipping was also super fast. I love everything about it!
Me and my kid are drawing little opossums now!
Fun little story , you can just imagine yourself out in the moonlight with all the woodland friends.
Yes, Jeanne, there is indeed a Santa Claus. And you have created something wonderful that he will deliver the world round. Congratulations!
What a wonderful book! My 3 and 5 year olds love the bright illustrations and the story is great! Definitely going in our bedtime book rotation.
A wonderful tale filled with many of West Virginia’s most near and dear creatures! Beautifully illustrated!
I love everything about this book - dark moody forests, gorgeous illustration, the Appalachian setting, all the critters (possums!!!)... I'm gifting it to my young cousins for the holidays; I can't wait to read it aloud with them!
I just loved this wonderful story that is full of West Virginia treasures. I bought this to send to my nieces in Tennessee to show them a little about where their mother was raised. My sister loved the Wv woods around our home and I think the artwork in this book gives them such a wonderful visual of what she reveled in as a child!
Perfect to read aloud to my grandkids
